Regular visits to the dentist and hygienist, daily brushing, and leading a healthy lifestyle reduce the risk of tooth decay, cavities and gum disease as well as maintaining a radiant smile.

How often should I see the dentist?

At Springburn Dental Care, we recommend coming to see us for a check-up every six months. A dental check-up is a good opportunity for your dentist to identify any early signs of decay or damage.

Dental hygiene cleaning removes tartar build-up, plaque and bacteria in hard to reach areas of your mouth. Airflow® Tooth Polishing or a classic scale and polish treatment will leave your teeth fresh and clean.

Your dentist will advise you on the most effective way to take care of your teeth with effective daily oral health habits at home.

Improving dental hygiene at home

Dental hygiene can be improved by brushing your teeth for at least two minutes in the morning and before going to bed every day. Use fluoride toothpaste and rinse your mouth with an antiseptic mouthwash. We recommend changing your toothbrush every 3 months or so to reduce the build-up of bacteria.

Flossing once a day and using a tongue scraper to clean your tongue periodically can also boost your dental hygiene.

Reducing the risk of dental problems

Healthy lifestyle choices such as eating a balanced diet and taking regular exercise help to further reduce the risk of gum disease and tooth decay.
